Our Curriculum
Curriculum
At Crook Log Primary School we see the whole child. We are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our pupils and staff to ensure that the whole school is a community where everyone feels able to thrive. Positive well-being is essential if children and young people are to flourish and lead fulfilling lives. We want our children to be happy to come to school and to have a positive attitude to their learning. We want them to relish challenges, embrace their mistakes as part of the learning process, value the importance of feedback and take inspiration from others. This will enable them to achieve great things whilst at Crook Log school and in the future.
Knowledge and skills progress year on year and build on the children’s understanding of each subject. Exciting activities spark their intrigue and love of learning. We follow the ‘Power of Reading’ programme which develops a high quality literacy curriculum, which in turn fosters a whole school love of reading and writing. Each half term a new book is introduced to the class in a creative and inspiring way, which leaves the children hanging on every word.
We provide experiences outside of the classroom which complement our vision and values and strengthen our curriculum offer and delivery. Trips and visitors are very important to enrich the children’s experiences and depth of understanding and we aim to make sure that the children have either a trip or visitor in each term. Alongside these experiences, we also offer Forest school. Outdoor learning provides opportunities for children to collaborate with each other, develop strong relationships and improve their communication skills.
We want our pupils, their families and staff members to be happy and proud to be part of the Crook Log community.
We believe in a brighter future
